47 Peace Advocates Driving Local Conflict Resolution in West Nile

Between April and July 2025, MACCO trained 47 Peace Advocates to support land governance and conflict resolution in Terego and Yumbe districts.

According to the report, Peace Advocates mediated 40 conflict cases, successfully resolving 33 disputes involving land conflicts, deforestation, crop destruction, and gender-based violence linked to land issues.

Community members increasingly rely on these trained advocates to resolve disputes before they escalate. The initiative has strengthened collaboration between refugees and host communities, reduced tensions over natural resources, and reinforced non-violent mechanisms of accountability.

This intervention highlights the value of investing in local leadership structures to sustain peace and responsible resource governance.
