Protecting Public School Land Through Community Mediation

In 2025, Peace Advocates supported by MAYANK Anti-Corruption Coalition (MACCO) successfully resolved land disputes affecting Tokuro and Ngaziku Primary Schools.

In Tokuro Primary School, a long-standing land dispute between a community member and teachers was disrupting teaching and learning. Through mediation involving local authorities and community leaders, the dispute was resolved on October 1st, 2025. The intervention restored stability at the school and improved relationships between stakeholders.

Similarly, in Ngaziku Primary School, two families attempted to reclaim land previously allocated to the school. Peace Advocates facilitated structured mediation sessions involving district land authorities. The families withdrew their claims, allowing learning activities to continue uninterrupted.

These cases demonstrate how community-led accountability mechanisms can protect public facilities and strengthen service delivery through peaceful resolution.
